TBSN #24 - How to stay interested
Starting a new thing is easy, but sticking with it for a longer time period isn't - it becomes boring.
Hey!
Deepak here.
Excitement level stays on another level when you discover something new and want to learn more about it, but soon after it becomes boring.
Why does this happen?
And, does it only happen to you, or just me?
Let me explain…
First of all, this doesn’t just happen to you or me. Most of the people come across this kind of feelings some time in their life. And this is totally normal.
According to research, only 13% of people say that they are really engaged with what they are doing. Meaning, 87% of the people are simply not interested.
So, how to stay interested?
Here are some things that you can do to stay interested for a longer time in what you start.
1. Know the “why”
First of all, it’s very important to know “why you are doing this thing”.
Explore and research about “the thing”, and you will find it even more interesting.
2. Set goals
Create a simple short-term and long-term goals on a piece of paper. You can maintain a diary of what you are doing and what you have to do next.
The best way is to have a To-do App on your phone/computer, set up your goals and it will remind what you are going to do. These reminders and a list of tasks to-do help you stay in the loop and you feel good.
3. Remove the financial aspect
Think like you started doing this “thing” because you were genuinely interested. Because once you start thinking about the financial benefits, you are just doing it for money and as long as you’re not starving, you won’t feel like doing it.
My advice is to forget the financial benefits that it brings; just keep doing it, be better at it and it may drive you a lot of financial benefits in the future.
4. Document your journey
Writing a diary or journal is the best thing that you can do to keep your mind at peace. You can’t share each and every feeling of yours with anyone but you CAN write, and it does help.
There are 2 main benefits of maintaining a journal:
You will feel relaxed and focused.
You can earn money by sharing your documented journey to motivate others and explain how exactly you did it.
A lot of people are motivating others and earning a lot of money on the way by simply sharing their journey of how they achieved something big.

Think of “the thing” like a game.
Keep playing it.
Challenge yourself.
Study the game.
Discover its beauty.
Ask what if.
Ask why, and why not.
Think of it as a game which you have created for yourself. You set the rules and you determine the outcomes.
Do you want to win? or lose?
You win, if you win.
Start again, if you lose. Repeat till 1000 times or more.
And remember the most important thing:
You cannot play all the games.
Play only the ones which bring the most value.
That’s it.
